We therefore ask that you refer to the diagram
of the top that is shown above,
and provide us with the following measurements.
A=WIDTH OF WINDOW BASE. IT SHOULD BE 45 to 45 1/2 INCHES.
B=BINDING TO BINDING DISTANCE. IT SHOULD BE 51 TO 51 1/2 INCHES.
(MEASURED AN INCH IN FRONT OF THE CURVE AT THE REAR DOOR GLASS.
C=THE DISTANCE FROM THE UNDER WINDOW STITCHING TO LOWER BINDING. IT SHOULD BE 3/4 INCH.
Significant differences noted?? Then please check other Camaro and Pontiac tops.
Fabrics: The original topping was either black pinpoint vinyl or black stayfast canvas. We offer tops in both fabrics. We are also offering alternative color tops, which are non-original.
Rear Window: As originally, these tops are made with the plastic window sewn in. This is one of the earlier GM tops to have the rear window integrated with the rest of the top. This makes the installation easier than for classic two piece tops.
Do It Yourself Installation: The summary of our two piece top installation manual can be read via the link below. In these Camaro tops the rear window section has been combined with the main top, making installation even easier. You can read the general steps in our manual link below to decide upon self installation. This work requires stapling (or tacking) and the alignment of fabric with frame sections for contact cement work. There is no sewing.
Headliner: The headliner is the interior roof covering. It is possible to re-use the old headliner in a new top installation if it is not damaged. The headliner is offered with "accessories."
Hold Down Cables: Hold down cables are threaded (one cable on each side of the top) through hems in the top. They attach the top to the frame front and back, above the side windows. New cables are recommended with each top. Cables are not visible after complete installation.
Tacking Strips: We offer replacement tacking strips which are embedded in the top frame front and rear bows. They receive the staples that hold the top to these frame cross bows.
Webbing: The webbing, or "stay pads" build out the top. Often old pads last through two tops and can be kept on the car under a second top.
