Hydraulics

Convertible Top Motor Pump Rebuild/Repair Service.    The repair service is usually completed 4 to 5 weeks after we receive your motor pump Details... We can evaluate your existing convertible top motor pump and if its "core" is in good shape we can return it to "like new" condition. We service the whole motor section of the unit: recoiling, insulating and cleaning. We test the rewound unit to make sure it is in proper working order before returning to you. If you do want your motor rebuilt, simply click "Add to Cart" at the right. (You would pay for it just as though you were ordering a part.) We will then send you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Properly box it up (we recommend putting it in a plastic bag as they can leak) and drop it off at a UPS store or the UPS counter in any Staples store. If your motor cannot be repaired, you'll get a refund or you can put this purchase toward the price of a new motor. Original MGA Roadster top fabric was a British vinyl very similar to the American made colonial vinyl which we use to make these fine reproductions. Colonial vinyl is a crush (leather) grain vinyl.

Although all original Roadster tops were black, we are offering white as an option.

These tops are made to order from original patterns.

The snaps for fastening the new top are not pre-installed into our vinyl tops.

We also offer tonneau covers. These will fit 1959-62 Roadsters. They install with snaps, as original. Snaps for tonneau covers are supplied uninstalled. Proper installation requires locating snap locations from the body receptacles and installing into the cover.

Self-installation and instructions: many owners of MGA Roadsters perform their own installation. We provide an instruction booklet for those who wish to either decide upon or to go ahead with their own installation. The instruction booklet is listed below under accessories.

The most difficult portion of the job is the first half of the replacement which consists of restoring or replacing the front wood bow and re-covering it with the new top's front bow cover. During this job the new fabric is wrapped all around the front bow and stapled in place. Also the front corner wing nuts and the latches are re-fastened. You can examine your top to check the condition of these hardware parts, which are available from mg specialists. While well within the skill set of the experienced "handyman" there are some meticulous steps to execute. They are covered in the instruction booklet.
