Identification: In mid-1961 the Sprites were redesigned and the new designation was called "Mark II." Earlier Mark I Sprites were called 'Bugeyes' ("Frogeyes in Britain") because of the appearance of the headlights on the front bonnet. In these Mark II Sprites, the headlights were moved outward and the lines of the car were squared off as shown in the picture.
Also: in late 1964 roll up windows and door handles were introduced. The cars on this page had no door handles and had removable windows.
Fabrics: The original fabric used in tops was a British crush grain vinyl. We offer these tops made to original patterns in American made crush grain vinyl. You may also select Haartz Pinpoint vinyl if you need to choose from a broader selection of top colors. The two fabrics are equivalent in durability.
You may also choose one of the Haartz Stayfast canvas toppings. This fabric has maximal durability owing to its butyl rubber core layer. It has an elegant canvas outer layer as well.
Windows: The original three plastic window design is accurately reproduced.
