Important Information
Original Factory Color(s): Black, Tan and Light Neutral

Fabrics: The original 1959 Dodge (all models) convertible top fabric was pinpoint vinyl. Haartz Stayfast canvas is another fabric choice.

Haartz Stayfast canvas is chosen by some restorers. It was the original Dodge Wayfarer and Coronet topping fabric until 1953. This fabric has a rich canvas outer coating. The inner layer is bonded to the canvas with a butyl rubber compound that becomes the central layer. This process makes the fabric extremely durable. The rich appearance of the canvas and the high durability of the fabric make this the luxury choice in toppings.

Classic Two Part Tops: These convertible tops are classic two part tops. That means that the rear window section and the main top are two separate sections. They are integrated by the stapling that is done in the installation process. You can read a summary of our two part top installation manual at the link below.

The full manual, together with notes made during the removal of the old top should enable the patient, handy restorer to perform a do-it-yourself installation. There is stapling and gluing involved. There is no sewing.

Tack Strips: Tack strips receive the staples or tacks. One is embedded in the header bow, another in the bow over the rear window. Tack strips can last through two tops. Stapling is also done along the rear base line as indicated in our information at the link below.

Pads: Pads are intalled across the frame, front to back, under the top. They build out the top.
