Important Information
Original Factory Color(s): Black, Tan and Light Neutral

These Fords were originally called super deluxe convertible coupes and also the very similar sportsman convertible coupe. The models take the same convertible tops. Restorers refer to them as convertible coupes.

The original topping was canvas and replacements are generally made in modern Haartz stayfast canvas. Colors may be views opposite the listed tops (see "view colors"). A budget version of the top can be ordered in haartz pinpoint vinyl.

The top is made, as original, in two parts which are joined together at the rear top bow during installation. These are the main top and the rear window section, called the curtain. You may order a top with a curtain with a plastic sewn in window. Most restorers opt for a "blank" curtain so that they may install their own window frame.

These classic Fords have wooden forms (called "top bows") that attach to the top frame, one in front and one above the rear window. They must usually be replaced. We are pleased to have accurate sturdy reproductions of these "wood top bows" available. Please inquire.

The bow above the rear window is made in much more modern fashion than the original steam bending process. Our bows are laminated in vacuum presses with the layers of wood bonded with marine glue for permanence and much greater resistance to shape change. The front bow is an automatically carved duplicate of the original, made from blanks of laminated solid kiln dried poplar timber. The holes are bored and counterbored for the attachment tee nuts which are supplied.
