We can evaluate your existing convertible top motor pump and if its "core" is good we can return it to like new condition. We service the whole motor section of the unit: recoiling, insulating and cleaning. We test the rewound unit to make sure it is in proper working order before returning to you. If you do want your motor rebuilt, simply click that line to add the service to your cart. (You would pay for it just as though you were ordering a part.) We will then send you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Properly box it up (we recommend putting it in a plastic bag as they can leak) and drop it off at a UPS store or the UPS counter in any Staples store. Classic Two Part Tops: You can read how these tops install below. There you will see a link to a summary of our two part top installation booklet. There is sufficient information there to enable a decision on do-it-yourself installation. The full, detailed manual is included with our top packages or you may purchase it separately (see "accessories" below.) Installation requires no sewing; only stapling (or tacking) and contact cement work.

Main Top and Rear Curtain: The two parts of the top (which integrate during installation) are available separately.

Tack Strips: Tacking strips are embedded in the header bow and the rear top bow. They receive the installation staples or tacks. Tack strips should last through at least two tops.

Pads: The padding can last through a second top. If you are doing a restoration job yourself we recommend the pad purchase. If you are going to a top shop for a labor estimate you can supply just the top and cables as the shop will have ready access to all standard pads.

Boots: If you desire a storage boot we strongly recommend using one of the modern boot vinyls. These have a slight "give" or stretch which makes them ideal as boots. Topping vinyls will be stiff and unwieldy as boot material.

Hydraulics:

We now stock hydraulic cylinders, motor-pumps, and hoses for your convertible tops. All are made to OEM specifications. Each can be ordered separately; however, when ordering hydraulic cylinders we recommend replacing both. The chances are that both hydraulic cylinders were manufactured at the same time: if one is on its way out the other may follow. If the top is raised and one hydraulic cylinder is working harder than the other the result over time can lead to a slightly bent convertible top frame. The replacement of both hydraulic cylinders will ensure that the top raises and lowers symmetrically.

Systems for this car take Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and have a 5 year warranty when used with this fluid. Brake fluid should not be used as it voids the warranty. We also offer an installation manual when ordered.

The 12 volt motor-pumps include a mounting bracket with rubber grommets to reduce vibration.

We also offer a rebuilding service for motor-pumps. Not all are repairable, but it is less expensive to have one rebuilt than to buy a new one. The motor-pump would need to be sent to us for evaluation. Hoses come with all new fittings and are made specifically to fit your car.
