Convertible Top Motor Pump Rebuild/Repair Service.    The repair service is usually completed 4 to 5 weeks after we receive your motor pump Details... We can evaluate your existing convertible top motor pump and if its "core" is in good shape we can return it to "like new" condition. We service the whole motor section of the unit: recoiling, insulating and cleaning. We test the rewound unit to make sure it is in proper working order before returning to you. If you do want your motor rebuilt, simply click "Add to Cart" at the right. (You would pay for it just as though you were ordering a part.) We will then send you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Properly box it up (we recommend putting it in a plastic bag as they can leak) and drop it off at a UPS store or the UPS counter in any Staples store. If your motor cannot be repaired, you'll get a refund or you can put this purchase toward the price of a new motor. Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl:Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl is a two-ply composite with a PVC outer layer and a cotton inner lining. Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl is a popular convertible top fabric. The original Cadillac Eldorado convertible top was made of Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl. In fact, this fabric is original to most American cars made before 1993. Pinpoint refers to the little dots on the vinyl surface. If you take care of a Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl convertible top, it can easily last 10 years.

Haartz Stayfast Canvas:If you're looking to upgrade your vinyl top, consider a convertible top made of Haartz Stayfast Canvas. This fabric is the American substitute for the German canvases used in Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, as well as some Mustang and Lebaron models. Haartz Stayfast Canvas is a three-ply composite material made of an acrylic square weave outer fabric, a butyl rubber core, and a cotton lining. The butyl rubber core promises to make Haartz Stayfast Canvas last a very long time. This canvas is a little richer looking than the vinyl. It's also a little harder to clean. Stayfast Canvas has both better static and dynamic wear ratings than vinyl tops.

Can I replace one just part of my Eldorado top?Yes. The Eldorado top is divided into two parts: the "curtain" (a.k.a. the rear window) and the "main top," which extends from the windshield to the rear window and includes the rear corner (quarter) sections. What should I know about hold down cables for the Cadillac Eldorado?Hold down cables provide attachment and tension between the top and the folding frame. There are two types of hold down cables now on the market: universal cables and original GM plate cables. The "universal" cables are popular because they are cheap. They have a plain attachment lug in place of the original GM plate. You can do a decent restoration with universal cables. But the original GM plate grips better and therefore attaches to the frame better overall. We recommend the original cables for all except budget installations. Ready to order hold down cables? About Ordering Hydraulic Cylinders:When ordering hydraulic cylinders we recommend replacing both. The chances are that both hydraulic cylinders were manufactured at the same time: if one is on its way out the other may follow. If the top is raised and one hydraulic cylinder is working harder than the other the result over time can lead to a slightly bent convertible top frame. About Hydraulic Systems:Systems for this car take Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and have a 5 year warranty when used with this fluid. Brake fluid should not be used as it voids the warranty. About Motor Pumps:The 12 volt motor-pumps include a mounting bracket with rubber grommets to reduce vibration.

We also offer a rebuilding service for motor-pumps. Not all are repairable, but it is less expensive to have one rebuilt than to buy a new one.
